Steve Fricker was born in London in 1952. He attended Holland Park Comprehensive school and gained a BA in Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art.

A professional cartoonist and illustrator for more than twenty years, he has been a regular contributor to The Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Telegraph, The Observer,The Independent, The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The Times. Other clients include; The Spectator, New Statesman, The Week , Punch, Radio Times, Saatchi and Saatchi, BBC TV, Channel 4 TV.

Fricker has also illustrated a number of books, including an edition of Alexandre Dumas' "The Black Tulip" (1989) and John Farndon's "What Happens When - ?" (1996). His daughter, Eliza Fricker, also studied at Chelsea School of Art, and produces drawings, collages, and screenprints.
