Malcolm Bird is a cartoonist and illustrator who has worked for numerous British magazines and newspapers, and has also produced greeting cards, comic strips, and books. He drew the comic strips "Madge and Beryl" for Jackie, "Lucy's Lot" for Prima, and "The Wrights" for Woman's Weekly. For twenty-four years Bird also illustrated Lynda Lee-Potter's column in the Daily Mail.

Bird is also a successful children's book illustrator. In 1984 he wrote and illustrated "The Witch's Handbook", and this was followed in 1993 by "The School in Murky Wood".
