British Cartoon Archive

The British Cartoon Archive (BCA) is dedicated to the history of British cartooning over the last two hundred years.

The BCA holds artwork for over 200,000 British editorial, socio-political, and pocket cartoons, supported by large collections of comic strips, newspaper cuttings, books and magazines.

Artwork in the British Cartoon Archive (BCA) dates from 19th century to the present day, and includes work by over 300 artists including Carl Giles, W.K. Haselden, David Low and Nicholas Garland.

Material from the BCA is still being accrued, with contemporary politics strongly represented throughout the collections.

You can find out about our larger collections on these webpages, but please do search our catalogue or email cartoons@kent.ac.uk if you can't find information on the artist you are looking for.

For more information about the history of the archive, see the about page.

We're currently working on an updated biography page for cartoonists. In the interim, you can access our original biography database here.
