NotesImage 1: See LSE1319 for published cartoon. Notes at the Trial of War Criminals,
December 1945. "Ribbentrop, changed surprisingly into a meek person like a family
solicitor, with disordered hair, pursed lips and large spectacles, fussing shakily with a
sheaf of papers. ... Streicher, the obscene Jew-baiter - no loathsome ape, but another
little man with another nervous twitch. He has a trick of throwing his head right back and
contemplating the ceiling with an air of preoccupation with Higher Things. In prison
Streicher has grown a fluff of hair over his horrible baldness and this catching the light
gives him a kind of halo. ... Opinions might differ about the award for 'nastiest person
present', but I should choose unhesitatingly Frank, the butcher of Warsaw. He wears a fixed
sneer and mutters. ... In a corner Donitz sits impassive like a little acid drop...
