Notes | News: September 7. In the late afternoon the drone of aircraft grew louder over the East End of London. Over 300 German bombers, escorted by double that number of fighters, were coming up the Thames. They bombed Woolwich Arsenal, a power station, a gas works, the docks and the City. |
