Rude Britannia at Tate Britain
The British Cartoon Archive material in the new Tate Britain exhibition "Rude Britannia" is getting wide coverage. On 13 June the Washington Post singled out the seaside postcards which the BCA lent to the exhibition. One of them - by Donald McGill - features on the exhibition poster, and the Post notes that it is "still attached to the index cards kept by a disapproving public prosecutor, who amassed a thick file on McGill." The BBC has also made a three-part "Rude Britannia" documentary, which features the Head of the BCA, Dr Nicholas Hiley, and is aired from 14 June on BBC 4. According to the BBC, it examines "more than three centuries of British filth."
