Giles Ahoy! at Herne Bay Museum
An exhibition of Giles cartoons from the British Cartoon Archive. The nautical cartoons on display were identified and voted on as community favourites by local groups.
A host of activities will be offered during the period including:
- Create your own 'Giles' Postcard Competition (1 August - 26 September) - Drop in to see the current exhibition and be inspired to make your own 'Giles' postcard for display in the museum. With a cartoon book prize for the best entry.
- Build a Model Boat! (Wednesday 26 August 10am to 12:30pm) - Discover boats and ships in Giles' cartoons. Meet members of Herne Bay Model Boat Club. See amazing models and create a mini sailing or paddle boat to take home. Age three to adult. (Part of the Herne Bay Festival)
- Giles Uncovered! (Friday 28 August 11am to 12 noon) Find out about the life and work of Giles with Nick Hiley from the British Cartoon Archive. Adults and children age 11 plus Read the review
- How to Draw Fun Cartoons (Saturday 12 September, 10am to 12:30pm) - Meet local cartoonist Dave Chisholm who will teach you how to draw fun cartoons including your family and friends. Age three to adult.
