Culture Cartooned
An exhibition at Canterbury Royal Museum and Art Gallery (Beaney Institute) by Canterbury City Council Museums and Galleries Service in partnership with the British Cartoon Archive at the University of Kent.
This exhibition brings together images by British cartoonists spanning the 20th century.
Highlights include cartoons by Giles about Arts Council grants and sporting prowess; jokes about modern art and art schools by Emmwood and Arthur Horner; perceptive observations of museum and gallery visitors by W. K. Haselden and Keith Waite; Reg Smythe's Andy Capp commenting about films; and the pocket cartoons of Mel Calman and David Austin.
