This group shows how the Welfare State was depicted in political cartoons during the period of Conservative Rule from 1979 to 1997 under Margaret Thatcher and John Major. It includes one cartoon featured in the companion group on images of the Welfare State in the 1970s (the last one in that group and the first in this). It also includes several cartoons feature Tony Blair that are also shown in another companion group on Tony Blair and New Labour.
