Welcome to the long list for the Whitstable Museum exhibition Carl Giles: community favourites from the British Cartoon Archive.
Members of Whitstable community groups can help to select the final exhibition by choosing 3 images which they would like to see included in the exhibition.
When the final selection has been made, Dr Nick Hiley, Head of the British cartoon Archive, will provide the formal captions, but the community groups can either write their own captions explaining why they chose the cartoons they did, or created their own piece of artwork inspired by the cartoon.
Suggestions for choices are: focus on Giles' artwork and style; Has the cartoon triggered a memory for you which you can describe? Did someone you knew look like Grandma Giles? Have you ever been all at sea? Is Giles making a dig at something in politics or everyday life that you can remember?
