Giles Ahoy exhibition at Herne Bay Museum summer

Welcome to the long list for the exhibition Giles Ahoy: community favourites from the British Cartoon Archive.
Members of Herne Bay community groups helped select the final exhibition by choosing 3 images which they would like to see included in the exhibition.
Nick Hiley wrote a formal caption and community groups either wrote another caption telling the exhibition visitors why they chose the ones they did, or created a piece of artwork inspired by the cartoon.
Suggestions for choices were: focus on Giles' artwork and style, or the cartoon may have triggered a memory for you which you can describe: perhaps you knew someone who looked like Grandma Giles; have you ever been all at sea: is Giles making a dig at something in politics or everyday life that you can remember….?
Students from the local school drew pictures for the exhibition which included the Giles character, Grandma.
