These annuals were produced every year from 1947 onwards and usually contained Daily Express and Sunday Express cartoons from the previous year. The annual had an introduction written by a celebrity or entertainer and each image usually had the caption, first publication date, and a short explanatory note if the event that inspired the cartoon had to be explained. The caption or image was sometimes changed for the annual. The images were chosen by Giles and the annuals continue to be produced. From 1991 onwards the annuals ceased to be annual compilations as Giles was no longer producing new cartoons or had been too ill to oversee the work.

From 1990 onwards the annuals have often also included other Giles work such as RNLI Christmas cards, cartoons that appeared in Reynolds News etc.
